State Requirements

Texas

PDH Hours Required
Engineers in Texas need to complete 15 PDHs every year, a requirement that ensures they keep up with new technologies and standards in their field.
Renewal Dates
Licenses need renewal on one of four dates throughout the year - March 31, June 30, September 30, or December 31 - based on the original licensure date. This system keeps professional standards up to date throughout the year.
PDH Carryover
If engineers earn more than the yearly requirement, they can move up to 14 extra PDHs to the next year. This system respects the effort put into professional development and allows for a balanced learning workload.
Board Pre-Approval
The Texas Board doesn't pre-approve courses or providers. Engineers have the responsibility to choose courses that meet Board standards and enhance their professional ability.
Approved Content
Courses should focus on material that improves professional skills. Texas engineers must include at least 1 PDH in ethics. Interestingly, the state allows for 5 PDHs from self-study, promoting continuous, self-initiated learning.
Approved Activities
Texas recognizes the value of online learning, with no maximum on the PDHs that can be earned this way. This flexibility supports engineers who prefer digital study options due to convenience or current learning trends.
Notes
Keeping a record of PDHs is crucial, as the state requires tracking for 3 years. Engineers benefit from our service that offers immediate certificate access after a course and safe storage of completion certificates for a minimum of ten years, available anytime online through their accounts.
