PDH Hours Required
Professional Engineers in Vermont are committed to their professional development, requiring the completion of 30 PDHs every two years. This biennial learning investment ensures they are continually advancing their knowledge and skills.
Renewal Dates
To stay consistent with their professional development, engineers should note the biennial license expiration of July 31 in even-numbered years, prompting timely renewal and continuous learning.
PDH Carryover
Earned credits remain valid for up to three years, providing scope for professionals to carry forward credits accrued in the year leading up to the renewal date. However, these credits should not have been accounted for in the previous renewal cycle, ensuring fresh learning each period.
Board Pre-Approval
The Board empowers engineers to select courses they deem fit, without pre-approving providers or specific courses, relying on engineers to choose activities that fulfill the Board's standards.
Approved Content
The focus for acceptable courses encompasses a broad spectrum, encouraging engineers to pursue learning that maintains, enhances, or expands their current skill set. This can range from technical engineering topics, ethics, standards of practice, to engineering management, fostering comprehensive professional growth.
Approved Activities
Vermont's Professional Engineers have the flexibility to engage in various forms of learning. The Board acknowledges online courses, correspondence courses, and pre-recorded sessions as viable means to earn the necessary PDH credits, accommodating different learning preferences and schedules.
Notes
Except for first-time renewals, all Professional Engineers need to meet the CPC requirements. A single PDH represents 60 minutes of learning, setting a standard unit of professional development time. It's crucial for engineers to keep records of their CPC completion for two past renewal cycles. Our platform eases this process by offering immediate access to certificates upon course or webinar completion, secure long-term storage of completion certificates for at least ten years, and hassle-free access through your online account anytime.
