Based on your state requirements, on-demand courses are accepted in your state. Our courses are structured to meet NCEES Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) guidelines — the nationally recognized standard for continuing education. Each course includes a final graded assessment and completion certificate, giving you the documentation you need for your state's renewal audit. Engineers are responsible for confirming their specific board requirements.

PDH Hours Required: Professional Engineers in South Dakota are required to accumulate 30 PDHs every two years.
Renewal Dates: License renewal is set on the anniversary of the original date of licensure, ensuring personalized deadlines for each engineer.
PDH Carryover: A carryover of up to 15 PDHs is allowed into the ensuing biennial period, aiding in the flexibility and planning of continuous professional development.
Board Pre-Approval: The South Dakota Board of Technical Professions does not pre-approve courses or providers. Responsibility is placed on the engineer to verify the relevance and compliance of their professional development activities.
Approved Content: Engineers must complete a minimum of 20 PDHs in technical subjects, spanning a broad spectrum of relevant engineering topics. The flexibility to undertake up to 10 PDHs in professional management subjects is provided, including areas like ethics, total quality process, or computer-related advancements.

Notes: For professionals with dual licensure, the 30 PDH requirement persists, necessitating that one-third of the total credits directly apply to each designated field. Record-keeping of PDH completion is mandatory for a 3-year period.
