State Requirements
Pennsylvania
Info
Based on your state requirements, on-demand courses are accepted in your state. Our courses are structured to meet NCEES Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) guidelines — the nationally recognized standard for continuing education. Each course includes a final graded assessment and completion certificate, giving you the documentation you need for your state's renewal audit. Engineers are responsible for confirming their specific board requirements.
- PDH Hours Required
- Professional Engineers in Pennsylvania are required to complete 24 PDHs every two years.
- Renewal Dates
- The deadline for license renewal is September 30 in odd-numbered years for all engineers.
- PDH Carryover
- If engineers accumulate more than the required PDHs during a renewal cycle, up to 12 of these excess hours can be carried over to the next period.
- Board Pre-Approval
- The Board does not pre-approve courses or providers. It is the engineer's responsibility to verify the compliance of each course based on the Board's standards.
- Approved Content
- The focus for CPC credits must be on areas that "maintain, improve, or expand skills and knowledge obtained prior to initial licensure" or develop new skills, including applicable laws and ethics. Courses purely related to practice building or office management are not eligible for credit.
- Approved Activities
- Engineers have the flexibility to earn their PDHs through online courses, as these are recognized by the Pennsylvania Board.
- Notes
- For engineers with licenses in multiple professions, each profession requires the completion of 24 PDHs. Courses relevant to multiple professions may be applied to each PDH requirement. It is critical to maintain records of PDH completion for at least 5 years. Our service aids this process by offering instant certificate access and secure long-term storage for a minimum of ten years, accessible anytime within your account.
