State Requirements

North Dakota

PDH Hours Required
In North Dakota, Professional Engineers are obligated to accumulate 30 PDHs biennially to uphold their professional licenses.
Renewal Dates
Engineer licenses in North Dakota must be renewed by December 31, with the specific timing contingent on the initial year of licensure.
PDH Carryover
Professionals can transfer a maximum of 15 PDHs into the succeeding renewal term, easing the process for continuous learning and licensure maintenance.
Board Pre-Approval
The State Board does not engage in the pre-approval of courses or educational providers. It is incumbent upon engineers to ensure their activities adhere to the Board's standards.
Approved Content
To qualify, activities must be geared toward direct application in engineering and emphasize the protection of public health, safety, and welfare. A minimum of 20 PDHs should focus on technical subjects or professional management themes relevant to engineering practices, while a maximum of 10 PDHs may be related to non-technical professional management topics.
Approved Activities
For North Dakota engineers, there is no restriction on the number of PDHs obtainable through online continuing education courses.
Notes
Dual license holders are required to secure 30 PDHs every two years, with one-third of those credits distinctly applicable to each profession. Record keeping is essential, with a four-year documentation requirement for completed PDHs. Our platform enhances this process by providing instant access to certificates upon successful course or webinar conclusion. For added security and convenience, we ensure your certificates are stored safely for a minimum of ten years and are accessible online through your account at any moment.
