How many PDH does a New Jersey PE need?
Professional Engineers in New Jersey complete 24 continuing professional competency (CPC) credits during each biennial period. At least 2 of those credits — but no more than 8 — must be earned in professional practice ethics. Engineers licensed as both a professional engineer and a professional land surveyor complete 36 credits split across the two disciplines.
When does a New Jersey PE license renew?
New Jersey engineering licenses renew by April 30 in even-numbered years, and renewals are submitted online — the Board does not accept paper renewals.
Can New Jersey PEs carry over PDH?
A maximum of 12 CPC credits may be carried over into the next biennial renewal period, so credits earned ahead of schedule are not lost.
Does the New Jersey board pre-approve courses?
The Board approves CPC providers and maintains a list of them on its website, so credits must be earned through educational programs sponsored by a Board-approved provider.
What content counts toward New Jersey PDH?
Programs must directly and materially relate to the practice of professional engineering with the clear purpose of maintaining, improving, or expanding the licensee's skills and knowledge. Courses required for initial licensure and those primarily involving practice building, practice management, or practice marketing are not approved.

Which activities count in New Jersey?
Distance learning qualifies as an equivalent educational program when a final examination is required, and there is no cap on the number of CPC credits earned online.
