How many PDH does a Nevada PE need?

Nevada PEs acquire at least 30 PDH per biennial renewal, reported on the renewal application for the preceding 24 months. Two hours must be in professional ethics and one hour in NRS and NAC chapter 625, and a PE licensed in several disciplines still owes only 30.

When does a Nevada PE license renew?

Renewal periods are structured according to last names: January 1 of odd-numbered years for A-E, July 1 of odd-numbered years for F-K, January 1 of even-numbered years for L-R, and July 1 of even-numbered years for S-Z.

The first letter of the surname of a licensee determines the last date on which a licensee may pay his or her renewal fee NAC 625.410

Can Nevada PEs carry over PDH?

Professionals can transfer a maximum of 15 PDH to the subsequent renewal cycle. However, credits earned for ethics and laws/rules (NAC/NRS) are excluded from this carryover privilege and must be acquired within the current period.

If a licensee has submitted to the Board proof deemed acceptable by the Board that he or she has completed more than 30 professional development hours in a biennial renewal period pursuant to subsection 1 or 5, the licensee may carry forward to the next biennial renewal period not more than 15 of the excess professional development hours. NAC 625.430(3)

Does the Nevada board pre-approve courses?

The Nevada Board does not pre-approve courses or providers. Engineers have the responsibility to ensure their continuing education activities comply with the Board's criteria.

What content counts toward Nevada PDH?

Effective April 14, 2021, there are special requirements for each renewal cycle: engineers need 2 PDHs in engineering ethics and 1 PDH covering the Nevada Administrative Code and Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 625. The continuing education courses should contribute to advancing or expanding the professional's competence in their field, with a focus on technology updates, procedural enhancements, and adherence to ethical standards.

I live in another state with CE rules. Do I report Nevada PDH?

If your resident jurisdiction's requirements are substantially equivalent to Nevada's and you met them, PDH reporting is waived at renewal under NAC 625.450. NVBPELS continuing education

Can I meet the ethics and statutes hours through self-study?

Do inactive licensees need PDH to renew?

Yes. A license on inactive status renews under NAC 625.430 the same way an active license does, but the holder may not practice. NAC 625.420
