State Requirements
Kansas
Info
Based on your state requirements, on-demand courses are accepted in your state. Our courses are structured to meet NCEES Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) guidelines — the nationally recognized standard for continuing education. Each course includes a final graded assessment and completion certificate, giving you the documentation you need for your state's renewal audit. Engineers are responsible for confirming their specific board requirements.
- PDH Hours Required
- Professional Engineers in Kansas are required to complete 30 PDHs biennially, with at least 24 of these hours being related to health, safety, property, and welfare (HSPW). A maximum of 10 HSPW hours can be earned in any 24-hour period.
- Renewal Dates
- Renewal is due by April 30 of even-numbered years for licensees with last names beginning with A through L, and April 30 of odd-numbered years for licensees with last names beginning with M through Z.
- PDH Carryover
- Up to 15 hours may be carried forward into the next renewal period, with full documentation required if audited.
- Board Pre-Approval
- The Board does not pre-approve providers or specific courses. It is the responsibility of each engineer to ensure an activity meets the Board's guidelines.
- Approved Content
- Qualifying activities should have clear purposes and objectives aimed at maintaining, improving, or expanding the skills and knowledge relevant to the technical profession while safeguarding health, safety, property, and welfare. This includes activities focused on technical, managerial, or ethical fields.
- Approved Activities
- Correspondence courses and webinars are accepted for all 30 hours, with correspondence courses requiring a final graded test. A cap of five self-study hours may be applied in any one renewal period.
- Notes
- PDH completion records should be retained for a minimum of 4 years. We assist by providing instant access and printing of certificates upon successful course or webinar completion, and secure ten-year online storage for your certificates of completion. The Kansas State Board of Technical Professionals uses the term "CEU" to denote one nominal hour of contact time, a definition differing from that of community colleges or universities.
