PDH Hours Required
Professional Engineers in Idaho are required to accumulate 30 PDHs biennially, focusing on technical or professional content to maintain, improve, or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to their practice.
Renewal Dates
Renewal is due on the last day of the engineer's birth month, with those born in even years renewing in even years and those born in odd years renewing in odd years.
PDH Carryover
Engineers can carry over a maximum of 30 PDHs into the subsequent renewal period.
Board Pre-Approval
The Board does not pre-approve providers or specific courses. It's incumbent upon each engineer to ensure an activity aligns with the Board's guidelines.
Approved Content
Courses should primarily encompass technical or professional content, though there aren't explicit restrictions on other types of content. All courses should be relevant to the practice of the licensee, who may be required by the Board to elucidate how a course is pertinent to their practice.
Approved Activities
Distance learning is recognized as an approved method for earning PDHs, with no limitations on the number of hours attainable through this mode.
Notes
PDHs must span at least two different activity areas, like online courses and self-study, or online courses and patent acquisition. Dual registrants (engineering and land surveying) need to adhere to the rule requirements for each profession. A cap of 3 PDHs per biennial renewal period is set for documented self-study, such as reading materials or published papers, with one PDH earned for every two hours of study. PDH completion records should be retained for a minimum of 6 years. We aids in this by providing instant certificate access and printing upon successful course completion, alongside a secure ten-year online storage for your certificates of completion, accessible anytime through your login account.
