How many PDH does a Georgia PE need?

Professional Engineers in Georgia are required to complete 15 PDHs annually as mandated by the Georgia Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors Board. The courses should ideally encompass technical, professional, ethical, and managerial content to maintain, improve, or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to the licensee's field of practice.

Can Georgia PEs carry over PDH?

Board Rule 180-11 allows up to 7.5 PDH earned beyond the annual requirement to be carried into the next renewal period.

If more than 15 PDH credits are earned in an annual period for professional engineers, or 7.5 PDH credits earned for land surveyors, then a maximum of 7.5 PDH's may be carried forward into the next annual period for professional engineers and 3.75 PDH's for land surveyors. The Board does not pre-approve either providers or specific courses. It is the responsibility of each engineer to ascertain whether an activity complies with the Board's stipulations.

What content counts toward Georgia PDH?

While there's a focus on technical, professional, ethical, and managerial content, there are no explicit restrictions on other types of content. However, personal development topics are not accepted. Each course should have a clear purpose and objective aligning with the enhancement of skills and knowledge pertinent to the engineering domain.

Which activities count in Georgia?

Distance learning is acknowledged as an approved method for earning PDHs, with no restrictions on the number of hours that can be obtained through this mode of learning.

Other Georgia rules to know

Engineers are required to keep records of PDH completion for a minimum of 4 years. Additionally, certificates of completion are securely stored by us for a minimum of ten years, accessible online at any time through your login account.
