When does a Florida PE license renew?

The biennium runs from March 1 of an odd-numbered year through February 28 of the next odd-numbered year, so licenses expire February 28 in odd-numbered years and all hours must be earned inside that window.

Can Florida PEs carry over PDH?

Florida allows no carryover. Every credit claimed must be earned within the single biennium it is reported for, which makes steady progress through the cycle important.

Does the Florida board pre-approve courses?

The Board approves continuing education providers, and providers must meet the requirements of Rule 61G15-22.011, F.A.C. The Florida Laws and Rules hour in particular must be taken from a Board-approved provider.

What content counts toward Florida PDH?

Beyond the mandatory Laws and Rules, ethics, and area-of-practice hours, acceptable subject matter is broad — any topic pertinent to the practice of engineering that maintains or advances the licensee's technical competence.

Which activities count in Florida?

Hours may be earned by presenting or attending seminars, in-house or non-classroom courses, workshops, webinars, and professional or technical presentations made at meetings, conventions, or conferences.

Other Florida rules to know

Engineers report completed hours through the free NCEES CPC Tracking system. Licensees first receiving a Florida PE license on or after March 1, 2025 need only the Laws and Rules course, the ethics course, and the renewal fee for their first renewal rather than the full 18 hours.
