Info
Based on your state requirements, on-demand courses are accepted in your state. Our courses are structured to meet NCEES Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) guidelines — the nationally recognized standard for continuing education. Each course includes a final graded assessment and completion certificate, giving you the documentation you need for your state's renewal audit. Engineers are responsible for confirming their specific board requirements.
- PDH Hours Required
- Professional Engineers are required to complete 24 PDHs biennially. 2-6 PDHs must be in professional ethics, a maximum of 9 PDHs in project management or business skills, and the rest in technical courses. Dual licensed engineers/surveyors may attribute up to 12 PDHs to land surveying practices.
- Renewal Dates
- License renewal is due by June 30 of even-numbered years.
- PDH Carryover
- No PDH credits may be carried forward into the next renewal period.
- Board Pre-Approval
- The Board does not pre-approve courses or providers, leaving it to engineers to determine if activities meet requirements.
- Approved Content
- Qualifying activities are those with clear objectives to maintain, improve, or expand skills and knowledge relevant to engineering practice, excluding regular job duties.
- Approved Activities
- Distance learning is an approved method for PDHs, with no limit on the number of distance learning hours.
- Notes
- PDH records are to be maintained for 3 years. "Retired" or "Inactive" status engineers are exempt from PDHs but must fulfill missed PDHs (up to 48) if they return to active practice.
