How many PDH does an Arkansas PE need?
Professional Engineers in Arkansas are required to complete 30 PDHs biennially. Content should be technical, professional, or managerial, aimed at maintaining or improving skills relevant to the licensee's field of practice.
Every professional engineer or professional surveyor licensee is required to report a minimum of thirty (30) PDH units for each renewal period. 17 CAR § 285-1003(1)(A)
When does an Arkansas PE license renew?
License renewal is due by December 31 of even-numbered years for licenses ending with an even number, and odd-numbered years for licenses ending with an odd number.
Can Arkansas PEs carry over PDH?
Engineers may carry forward up to 30 PDHs into the next renewal period. Dual licensees may carry forward up to 40 PDH, with restrictions.
If a licensee exceeds the requirement in any renewal period, a maximum of thirty (30) PDH units may be carried forward into the subsequent renewal period 17 CAR § 285-1003(1)(B)
Does the Arkansas board pre-approve courses?
The Board does not pre-approve courses or providers. It is the responsibility of each engineer to determine the relevance of an activity to their professional development.
What content counts toward Arkansas PDH?
Activities need a clear purpose and objective that maintains, improves, or expands the skills and knowledge relevant to your field of practice. Technical, managerial, and ethical content all qualify, and Arkansas does not mandate an ethics hour.
Which activities count in Arkansas?
Correspondence, recorded, and online short courses count with no cap, alongside college courses, seminars, in-house courses, teaching, published papers, professional society leadership, and patents. Credit determination for published work and society activity is your responsibility, subject to board review.

Other Arkansas rules to know
Dual licensees report 40 PDH per period with at least 10 in each profession and may carry forward up to 40. Non-residents who meet the CPC rules of another jurisdiction may rely on that compliance. Keep records sufficient for audit verification of every credit claimed; a lapsed license is reinstated with 15 PDH per year missed, up to 30.
